Alright, since it’s almost summer I guess it’s fitting that I share my new wool coat with faux fur collar. On a side note, first day of summer is actually a national holiday in Iceland and was on April 21. So at least it would be fitting if I was planning on spending my summer in Iceland because you never no what kind of weather you’ll be getting and need to be prepared for it all. But I’m not, so maybe we could all just pretend that I am extremely great at planning ahead and that I now have a new coat all ready for fall! But my friends and family know that’s just one big lie. So I guess my reason is that I have had this wool fabric for some time now and then the Nina Coat pattern from Shwin Designs came along and I saw a match and wanted to give it try.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record here it goes: I was lucky enough to test Wardrobe by me latest pattern, the Amelia Bomber Jacket.

I have been working on some items lately that are a bit more challenging than what I’m used too. Which is a good thing but I needed a nice simple project to balance things out to make sure I didn’t loose my sewing mojo and Christina from Wardrobe by me came to my rescue and released a flared skirt add on for the Diana Wrap Dress.

This has got to be one of the longest weeks ever! Anita has been sick for almost a week. I thought she was better on Tuesday but no, the fever came back and we are still at home cuddling on the couch all day long – sigh! Last night I was feeling sorry for myself so I had a glass of wine and did some sewing therapy and oh it was so good! Since Anita is also sick of being sick I made a dress for her and she was so happy this morning when she woke up and saw her new dress.

With the help of Wardrobe by me I will soon have a full wardrobe by me!
My newest item is the Diana Wrap Dress, which was just released. At first I wasn’t sure a wrap dress was my thing but I’m totally sold. You should definitely check out all the other tester versions, there are some amazing pieces there. Some are casual like mine, some are smoking hot and some are really elegant. So making a wrap dress to match your style is no problem!

I only manage to sew one garment in April, I swear that month just flew by! With Easter, my second oldest son’s Confirmation and my mom visiting from Iceland, April was a fantastic month but just went by way to fast! Time flies when you’re having fun, am I right?
What I did sew was a dress (no surprise there I guess) for my daughter to wear to her brothers Confirmation. As soon as I saw that pattern for the first time I knew I would make it for that occasion. I think it is one of the sweetest little dress pattern I have seen, it has the perfect balance between fancy and girly I think. I am of course talking about the Ethereal Dress by Figgy’s.
So do you want to see some photos of my little cutie in her dress?
The main fabric is some quilting cotton from my local fabric shop and for the flounce I used chiffon. I had to go into hiding while I was sewing this one as I was sure she would want to put it on at once and wear it to daycare, and I was right she practically squealed when she saw it and ripped of the clothes she was wearing so she could put on her new dress.
I sewed up a size 3 for my skinny little almost 3 year old. The dress is a little roomy but thats how we like them anyway so we are very happy with how it came out!
And here is the whole gang. Anita is the only one wearing mommy made clothes this time around, I don’t think my 15 or 18 year old would agree to wear something I made anyway, but I hope to venture into sewing for myself as well as for my little ones.
I am so rich!! 🙂
