Happy Fathers day!

I think its very fitting to post my latest make today as it is Father’s day here in Norway and this one is for the man in my house. I rarely sew for him and when I was looking for fabric for this one he pretended to give me a hard time about all the fabric I buy and then he never gets anything from it. My answer to that was oh honey be careful what you wish for, mwhaha!

He is very happy with his new Overshirt from Wardrobe by me, not so happy with the fact that he had to modell it for me to get it. Nothing in this world is free, amiright?! Poor guy came home after being away for work for a little over two weeks and I dragged him right out to take photos while we still had daylight. Having a pattern tester/sewing blogger in your family is no picnic!

I used Brooklyn plaid flannel by Robert Kaufman I bought from Stoffdronning. It looks like this colour is sold out so I linked to a light grey option.

He is wearing size XL and it fits him perfectly, he’s not that tall but his height is in his torso. I took 1 cm out of the length of the sleeves, I probably could have taken out one more. Something to remember for next time. The pattern comes with options for both patch and welt pockets. I love the welt pockets and I think that’s more his style. Sizing goes from 2XS to 3XL, I can’t wait for my almost 10 year old to reach the smallest size than I can make them matching outfits.

The Overshirt is a fantastic addition to the ever growing selection of sewing patterns for men from Wardrobe by me.

I'm a mom to four fantastic kids, three boys and a girl. To teenagers and to toddlers so never a dull moment in our household :) We are from Iceland but have been living in Norway since 2001. I have a newfound passion for sewing. My hubby travels a lot for work and I needed something to do at night when the little ones are a sleep because suddenly my teenage boys would rather hang with their friends or play on their pc's than be with me - why is beyond my imagination :) Thanks to Pinterest I found some amazing sewing bloggers, whom I've been stalking, and realized that I could dig out my sewing machine and start sewing. Now it's all I think about. I've been hoarding pdf patterns and learning from all the amazing tutorials that are out there. I've decided to try out this blogging thing as well to document my sewing journey. We'll see how it goes! Thanks for stopping by, I would love it if you would leave me a comment! XOXO Dagbjört

  1. Please thank your husband for being a good sport and modeling the overshirt for all of us to see! It’s a great shirt, and I think that the welt pockets are brilliant! They really ‘elevate’ the look of the jacket.
But wait! I just checked the Wardrobe by me website and your husband is now immortalized as one of their models! (But really, clothes on a real person make a BIG difference!) Lovely jacket/shirt/overshirt!
