The Moss Dress

I just tested for a new to me pattern company and it’s always a little nerve wracking to test for a new pattern designer.  But I’m happy to report that testing for Sofiona Designs was a great experience and I hope to get the opportunity again.

Little miss is very happy with her Moss Dress and Top.  I have a feeling it will be worn a lot this summer.  It covers the shoulders so it works great as a swim cover up after a day at the beach as well as just a cute sommer dress/top.

It comes in three lengths; top, knee and maxi and in sizes from 2 – 14.  For Anita I made size 7 and added an inch to the length.  I love that front detail for some cute colour blocking.  The back is also way cool.

There are two depth options for the back V and there is also an option for a very cool oversized hood.  For some reason Anita didn’t want a hood this time but I have a feeling there is a hooded version in her near future.  This is the smaller of the V’s by the way.

Summer isn’t quite here yet and it was a cold and windy day to take photos, but as always she was a trooper and powered through.  The fabric I used is the same as I used for my Mirri top a few weeks back, its from a Norwegian store called Stofflykke, I only see it in the coral colour there now.

When pattern testing you usually start with a first draft to check the overall fit and such. For the Moss the final pattern didn’t require much editing.  I made a knee length dress and a top in the beginning and I love them as well so I’m going to include a couple of photos of them here too.  The changes were mainly a little tweaking of the fit around the armcye.

Sofiona just released The Narwhal Swimsuit as well, I missed the tester call for that one so I haven’t made one yet but the tester photos look really great.  You can also get both the Moss and the Narwhal in a bundle.

Time is running out to get the patterns on release sale prices so hurry up!

I'm a mom to four fantastic kids, three boys and a girl. To teenagers and to toddlers so never a dull moment in our household :) We are from Iceland but have been living in Norway since 2001. I have a newfound passion for sewing. My hubby travels a lot for work and I needed something to do at night when the little ones are a sleep because suddenly my teenage boys would rather hang with their friends or play on their pc's than be with me - why is beyond my imagination :) Thanks to Pinterest I found some amazing sewing bloggers, whom I've been stalking, and realized that I could dig out my sewing machine and start sewing. Now it's all I think about. I've been hoarding pdf patterns and learning from all the amazing tutorials that are out there. I've decided to try out this blogging thing as well to document my sewing journey. We'll see how it goes! Thanks for stopping by, I would love it if you would leave me a comment! XOXO Dagbjört
