Hera

Maybe you remember that a few weeks ago I posted a couple of summer tops I tested for Wardrobe by me, The Summer Breeze and The Summer Tulip.  Guess what, there is a third sister and her name is Hera.  But hold on it gets even better, YOU can get her for free!  That’s right $0.00!  All you have to do is sign up for the newsletter.

Hera is a peplum top designed for light weight woven fabric.  Well, you know how rules are meant to be broken?  That’s what a few of us testers have been up to lately.

My Hera hack is very easy!  First of I used light weight cotton blend jersey I bought from the ever great Imagine Gnats store, sadly this amazing print is out of stock.  If you want to use knit instead of woven be sure to size down.  I went down one size but I probably could have gone down even one more, but it’s no big deal and I love how it fits.

The other thing I did was to add length to the skirt piece and make a high-low hem.  I also took out some of the flair.  I mainly did that because I wanted to save some of this gorgeous fabric.

I don’t like hemming light weight knit fabric, it just becomes a big mess, so I did a rolled hem using my serger on both the skirt and the sleeves.

It’s kind of hard to see because of the busy print of my fabric, but the pattern has a cross over bodice and an elastic casing between the bodice and the skirt pieces.  Because of these elements you can hack this pattern in SO many ways and you most definitely need to check out some of the amazing jumpsuit/romper hacks that have been done.  Doing that is up high on my mile long sewing list!

I love the little flutter sleeve.  But hey don’t worry if that’s not your thing you can find a FREE sleeve pattern in the Facebook group, Wardrobe by me pattern support.  See this just gets better and better!

Even though you get all this for free you don’t have to worry about the quality you are getting.  This pattern has all the great qualities of all the other Wardrobe by me patterns including layers, trimless pages, print format letter, A4 and A0, fully illustrated instructions.  This one even has eleven sizes 0-20 / 30-50!

Even my little photo bomber loves this so what are you waiting for sign up now and join in on the fun of making your own wardrobe!

I'm a mom to four fantastic kids, three boys and a girl. To teenagers and to toddlers so never a dull moment in our household :) We are from Iceland but have been living in Norway since 2001. I have a newfound passion for sewing. My hubby travels a lot for work and I needed something to do at night when the little ones are a sleep because suddenly my teenage boys would rather hang with their friends or play on their pc's than be with me - why is beyond my imagination :) Thanks to Pinterest I found some amazing sewing bloggers, whom I've been stalking, and realized that I could dig out my sewing machine and start sewing. Now it's all I think about. I've been hoarding pdf patterns and learning from all the amazing tutorials that are out there. I've decided to try out this blogging thing as well to document my sewing journey. We'll see how it goes! Thanks for stopping by, I would love it if you would leave me a comment! XOXO Dagbjört
