A Nivalis dress for my sick little girl.

This has got to be one of the longest weeks ever!  Anita has been sick for almost a week.  I thought she was better on Tuesday but no, the fever came back and we are still at home cuddling on the couch all day long – sigh!  Last night I was feeling sorry for myself so I had a glass of wine and did some sewing therapy and oh it was so good!  Since Anita is also sick of being sick I made a dress for her and she was so happy this morning when she woke up and saw her new dress.

For this therapy session I chose the Nivalis Tunic and Dress from Sofilantjes and it did not disappoint!  Great pattern with so many options and goes all the way up to size 14.

Since I just needed a quick fix I just used the plain neckband and skipped the waist taps so this was a really fast and easy sew!

I made her a size 5, it’s a little big but that was the plan so she can use it for a while.

Don’t you just love this fabric?  Well, I do anyway!  It is a scuba knit from Stoff og Stil.  I just might have to buy some more since they still have it in stock.  This was the first time I sew with this kind of fabric and man it’s easy to work with!  I didn’t even hem the dress.

I love the flair of this dress and this is for sure going to become a stable pattern for us.

The lighting was so beautiful this morning with the sun trying to get through the fog that we ran outside for 5 minutes to snap some photos.  Good thing she is an experienced model by now so our photo sessions are quick and easy.

Sorry for the picture overload here at the end.

I'm a mom to four fantastic kids, three boys and a girl. To teenagers and to toddlers so never a dull moment in our household :) We are from Iceland but have been living in Norway since 2001. I have a newfound passion for sewing. My hubby travels a lot for work and I needed something to do at night when the little ones are a sleep because suddenly my teenage boys would rather hang with their friends or play on their pc's than be with me - why is beyond my imagination :) Thanks to Pinterest I found some amazing sewing bloggers, whom I've been stalking, and realized that I could dig out my sewing machine and start sewing. Now it's all I think about. I've been hoarding pdf patterns and learning from all the amazing tutorials that are out there. I've decided to try out this blogging thing as well to document my sewing journey. We'll see how it goes! Thanks for stopping by, I would love it if you would leave me a comment! XOXO Dagbjört
