It seems Anita is getting taller by the day. Almost all her dresses from last year are now tunics. So either I need to make her a bunch of shorts to wear with them this summer or I can just make new dresses. Knowing my girl it’s not even a question – new dresses coming right up!
First in the series of summer dresses for Anita 2016 is a Mckenzie from Shwin Designs.
I used this pattern last year also, see here. It is such a fast sew with no buttons or zippers and I love the big pleats. You can also get this pattern as part of the Garden Girl Collection, than you get two other great top patterns plus leggings for a very good price. Last summer I made all of them here is my Stella Tunic and my Jane Dress.
This is actually a tunic pattern but it has instructions on where to cut to lengthen to a dress. I made this one in a size 5 lengthened to a dress.
The fabric is from Glam Fabrics, the mermaid fabric is Ann Kelle Girlfriends mermaids in surf from Robert Kaufman and the pink one is metallic silver on hot pink by Whistler Studio from Windham fabrics. Looks like she is sold out of both of those but she has some other very nice fabrics and amazing customer service. I’m not affiliated in any way just a very happy customer!
Anita really loves the mermaids.
Here is one more while we impatiently wait and dream of summer!
