My little lady in her London Dress

Anita has declared that she needs new summer dresses and she has grown so much this winter that I totally agree with her.  She has also been going through my fabric stash and claiming what she wants, which is pretty much everything that has flowers on it or a hint of pink or purple.  So I better get this party started!

Like that’s not enough she also wants a long dress.  I’ve been on the fence about that cause I’m not a huge fan of maxi dresses on little girls.  Then Shwin Designs launched the London Dress so I thought one maxi length dress wouldn’t hurt.

Shorts = Summer?

We are trying to stay optimistic that there will be summer here this year so I keep
sewing summer clothes for the kiddos.
Now it was Viktors turn, and he wanted shiny shorts!
Oh boy how am going to pull that off, I thought!
So together we looked through my fabrics and he found this great cotton + steel xoxo in green
I bought from Miss Matatabi.
So green and gold shorts I made.

The only thing was that I barely had half a meter of this fabric
and it was so close being enough for the shorts.
But you either have enough or you don’t!
We started digging through fabrics again and then I remembered another cotton+stell fabric
I had, Arrows in navy metallic, which I bought from The Laughing House.  It is sold out there now.
Perfect match!
I used the Kid Shorts pattern by Made in size 6
This is a simple pattern with lot of options and possibilities to make them your own style.
I made them last summer as well, such a quick little project.
Ok, lets turn to his shirt.  I was going to make him a tank to go with his shorts.
Like I said we still have hope that summer will come to us.  I didn’t have any solid color knit
in my stash that could go with those busy shorts and in Norway stores are closed on Sundays.
I really wanted to take these photos yesterday though so I could post this today.
As he was trying on his new shorts I noticed that the undershirt he was wearing was actually
the perfect navy color so I decided to just spruce it up a bit with some gold fabric paint I had.
We love how it turned out, even though the shirt is old and worn and kind of stretched out.
I guess when you are as good looking as this young dude you make everything look good!

KCW: Pink Stallions!

I really wanted to sew along with kids clothes week this time
cause I had the perfect fabrics for the theme – Wild Things.
But I had to do my sewing last week because my in-laws will be visiting this week.
I managed to finish what I had planned and today I’ll share Anitas wild thing outfit.
If you read my last post you might remember that I said my next post would also
feature patterns from Jennuine Design.
Tada!
Here you have the Haven Acres Blouse and the Dressage Leggings.

Pink stallions are pretty wild, right?!
And riding pants too?!
I made both a size 5.  The top fits perfect I think, but the leggings are a bit to big.
But I don’t mind cause I’m hoping for a really warm summer and if I get my wish they
wont be worn much until fall.  So fingers crossed!
I didn’t use the elastic for the sleeves because my local fabric store didn’t have
the right width on stock, but I think they look nice with out it as well.
I wanted to hold on to the length of the blouse so I hemmed it with bias tape.
For the blouse I used Mustang in pink from cotton + steel.  I bought mine from
The Laughing House.  It doesn’t look like she has this color in stock anymore,
but she has lots of nice fabrics and great customer service.
For the leggings I used fabric from my local fabric stores, the pink is from
Kreaktive (they are not online) and the denim color is from stoff og stil.
The patterns are both easy to follow and well written.
The leggings are not a fast sew, at least not for me.
But they are totally worth the time!

Now if only Anita could go riding with auntie Ásta in her new riding clothes!
Next up is Viktor.

Heading towards spring!

We have been enjoying some lovely springdays in between the rainy ones so I could finally snap some photos outside.  And o boy it is sooooo much easier than dealing with setting up the backdrop and trying to figure out the lighting, which I haven’t been successful
with this winter.
Hopefully it won’t be as far between my blogposts now that we are going towards
warmer weather.
My littlest man turned 5 in February and of course that called for a new button down shirt.

I used the Bookworm shirt pattern from Blank Slate Patterns.  I made view A in size 5.  The pattern is really good with great instructions as Blank Slate patterns tend to be
so the shirt came together quite easily.
I wanted a slim fit so I didn’t size up this time, but I think it is too short so I should have added to the length.  He will just have to wear this shirt for every occasion we get before he outgrows it.
The fabric is Arrows from the Mustang collection from cotton + steel  I ordered mine from
the laughing house fabric store.  She has some great fabrics and great service.
Even Anita likes this fabric and wants a dress from it!
It’s not so easy to see but for the inside of the collar stand I used XOXO in green with gold also from cotton + steel.
His jeans are from Next so I wont be taking credit for them.
