KCW: The Sweet Bonnie Top

Ok you guys I have one more post for you today and then I’ll stop for now.  This time I’m going to share with you The Sweet Bonnie Top by Shwin & Shwin.  This one was a challenge with the zipper in the back and the Peter Pan collar.  But I got through it even though there is a small gap in the front where the right and left collar piece meet.  Next time I’ll get it perfect! 🙂

I was a bit worried that it wouldn’t be pink enough for my little lady, but she loves it so it was a win!
I bought the fabric at fabric.com but I can’t find the name of it at the moment, I think it is a Robert Kaufman.

KCW: The Sally Dress

I bet you didn’t expect me to be back with a new post this soon 🙂  Good to have the pressure of the last days of KCW.  So next on my sewing list was The Sally Dress by Very Shannon.   I love this dress!  A couple of months ago I sewed this one

I love it, but it’s the wrong color according to my little miss princess so she wont wear it 😦
So this time I made sure to make it in the right color, pink obviously!

As you can see she is very happy with her pink Sally Dress! 🙂
The skirt part of both the blue and the pink dress is some really soft corduroy I bought at my local low price fabric store, the blue chevron is Montreux by Lori Mason for RJR Fabrics bought at fabric.com and the pink triangles is from Panduro Design.

KCW: The Olivia Top and Dress.

So next up on my KCW adventure I made the Olivia Top and Dress by Craftiness is not optional That is also one of my absolute favorite blog to read! It is a great pattern and fun and easy to sew.  I added a heart shaped pocket to the dress because after it was done I kind of thought it looked like a nightgown do to my fabric choice.  But I have learned that things need to be pink in order for my little missy to wear them as I will show you in my next post which will be popping up here very shortly.

The fabric is called Little Dot from Europe Art bought at my local fabric store, the pocket is made of Prisma Cats by Ingrid for Moda.

KCW: The recess raglan.

I wish I could sew and blog about it all the time.  But with work, 2 kiddos and 2 teenagers, keeping the house in a somewhat decent state and always finding something to remodel in our home, now it’s the main bathroom, I’m lacking hours in the day! I try to get some sewing done every week, specially when my husband is away for work then I sew every night after I put the little ones to bed.  I had big plans to participate in the KCW and I do have some pieces done but haven’t had time to blog about them.
Now I’m going to share with you to sweaters I made one for Viktor and one for Anita, I used the recess raglan pattern from see kate sew.  It was super fun and fast to sew!  I will use this pattern again for sure!  Now I just have to stock up on some more cute knits as my fabric stash isn’t that big yet and I’m loving using my new serger.

I got the fabric at my local low price fabric store stoff og stil I don’t know what it’s called but I think it’s super fun and the kids love it!  They were not cooperating very well (as usual) when I was trying to get an ok photo of them, they just can’t stay still for for to seconds!  I might have to enroll them in some modelling school 🙂

Christmas Presents.

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas with your loved ones.  We sure did, aside from my to youngest ones and my husband have been sick all Christmas with high fever, coughing and runny noses.  So pain killers have been served alongside all the good food, Christmas cookies and candy. But they are on the right track now I think or hope!

I made a couple of Christmas presents for my to beautiful nieces who live to far away from us.  I was so nervous making something to give to someone else, but I think it turned out alright and I hope they like it.

I made The Roly Poly Pinafore a pattern from Imagine Gnats and the Alex and Anna Winter Pj’s a Peek-a-boo pattern for my brand new niece who is barely 3 weeks old now.  The appliqués I got from craftsy, the night owl is a Five Sprouts design and it was free and the tulip is a design from Kip&Fig.

For her big sister I made a Sadie Grace Nightgown a Seamingly Smitten pattern combined with the bottoms from the Alex and Anna Winter Pj’s and a Pajama Eater a pattern from Sew Fearless.

I love all of those patterns.  I made exactly the same nightgown and pj bottoms for my little girl, and she loves her monkey pj’s.  I definitely want to make some pajama eaters for my to little ones now that we have redone their bedroom.  I also made the pinafore for Anita last summer and I love the fact that it’s reversible.  Here is the one I made for her.

Amaryllis Dress

It’s about time I write a second post here on this blog of mine!

I have been sewing quite a bit lately but most of it are Christmas presents so I can’t show you those projects until later. But when I was done with those I finally started on a Christmas dress for Anita. As soon as I saw the Winter Wonderland Collection from the great designers behind Pattern Anthology I knew that the Amaryllis Dress would be a perfect Christmas dress for her. Just as I was about to start Melissa, the talented lady of Blank Slate Patterns who made the pattern, announced she was going to have a sew along on facebook so I jumped on that. My first time sewing in public! I bought the pinkest fabrics I could find since my only to year old daughter refuses to wear anything that isn’t pink. That might in some way be my own fault as I have loved buying everything pink after having three boys before her. I bought the fabric from one of the to local fabric shops in my area.

The polka dot is a Quilters Basic Style # 4517 by stof.dk and the other one is Dimples by Gail Kessler for Andover Fabrics.

The dress came together very nicely, the instructions were really good and easy to follow. I was very happy with how accurately I managed to cut out all my pieces, everything lined up perfectly.

She loves her new dress! I can’t decide which side of the dress I like the best. What do you think, how should she wear it on Christmas eve?
Since it seems like I don’t have the fastest turnaround on my blogposts I guess I’ll just wish you all a very Merry Christmas now!

My very first blog post!

Here goes!  I think it is kind of scary and intimidating to write a blog, but I’m going to try and see how it goes.
For about six months ago or so I started my sewing journey.  I have found some amazing bloggers out there whom I’ve been stalking while trying to learn as much as I can from their fabulous blogs.
It all started when I came a cross a pin on Pinterest to a tutorial on how to make a bubble dress posted by straight-grain.com I tried to follow it but the bodice came out way too small for my little girl.  But boy did I get excited when I read that An, who writes that blog, was working on a real pattern for the bubble dress so I waited patiently and bought the pattern as soon as she released it and that became the first piece of usable clothing I have ever made.

And after that I was hooked!  I have been hoarding patterns and I’m slowly building up a nice fabric stash as well (don’t tell my husband).  I made quite a few dresses, skirts and shorts this summer and now I’ve even made pants with sippers and all, really proud of myself!  
I have been wanting to get a serger so I can get that nice finish on the inside of my garments as well as trying my luck on some knits.  So last weak I went ahead I bought one, what a joy!  It came with a class on learning how to use it and I’m going to that next wednesday, but I have been playing around with it and I think I’m getting the hang of it.
Now I just have to start working on my photographing skills and try to get my little models to be more cooperative.
