The Mama Leilani a pattern by Peach Patterns just hit the shelves.
The pattern is designed for light weight woven fabrics with good drape. There are several options included. You can make a top, a knee length dress or a dress with high-low hem 3/4 length. You can do a single or double ruffle overlay. For the straps you can make straps you tie together or you can make adjustable straps.
For my first one I did the top version with a single ruffle overlay. I used Rayon Challis fabric I bought from the Imagine Gnats Store. I wanted to try making adjustable straps since I have never done that before and luckily Stoff og Stil had the right size in stock. It was not at all hard to make and the pattern includes a full photo tutorial on how to make them so its easy peasy.
The top itself is also a fast and easy sew so its perfect if you need a new top or a dress and don’t have a lot of time. The thing that takes the most time is controlling your light weight fabric while cutting it.
As I had to go to Stoff og Stil for the hardware for the shoulder straps I picked up some more rayon fabric to make the dress version. I graded out at the hips and I think maybe I did a little to much so I used a belt to clarify my waistline.
This is the high-low hem and also with a single ruffle and adjustable straps.
It was a windy day so I was busy trying to hold everything in place, lol. I guess I wont be using the top or the dress much outside for the next months. Maybe this will be my Christmas dress, that would be nice to check off one item of the too do list. Otherwise these are great summer garments and they are cute layered with a nice blazer for example.
The Mama Leilani is on sale for $8.00 and you can also get the bundle with the little girls version for $12.00
