Have you ever had an idea in your head for the perfect garment and then it turnes out to be not so magnificent as you imagined?
No! Ok, I guess I’m the only one then!
It all started when I found this incredibly soft and beautiful blanket and in my head I saw it as an amazing oversized cardigan.
I started to look for pattern inspiration and suddenly I remember that Named clothing had the Esme Maxi Cardigan. I bought the pattern and started the sewing process.
Before I continue I just want to say that I LOVE the pattern and I sincerely apologise to Named for doing this to their pattern!
I sized up to size 40 to be sure it was oversized and cozy and because my blanket didn’t have much stretch in it. I had to vacuum after every cut and I sneezed the entire time I was working with this stuff. It was a total nightmare! Needless to say I had to clean my machines when I was done.
Do you want to see the thing????
I have two photos cause I was not about to waste our time on a photoshoot.
Yeah it’s a giant blanket robe!!
But it’s extremely warm and cozy with a fleece lining and all!
Although it’s the ugliest thing I’ve made so far I wear it ALL THE TIME! Around the house I should add.
I need to find some great fabric that isn’t a blanket and make another Esme that I can actually wear outside the house.
Love
Dagbjört.
Just add a belt and call it a bathrobe! Haha.
