Our Ila dresses

Even though this usually is a very busy time of year I just couldn’t resist applying to test the Ila dress, a new pattern from coffee+thread.

I made three dresses and I have a hard time deciding which one to start with here, I love them all!By Dagbjørt

Ok, lets just go in chronological order and start with the first one I made.  This is the first version we had in testing, the pattern got slimmed down a bit, but I still love this one.  The fabric is a cotton dobby from Miss Matatabi, its lightweight but sturdy.  I’m sorry to say it’s not available anymore.

Next up I made this one and here you can see a hint of the hideaway pockets, which Anita LOVES!  She goes: See I have no pockets on my dress!  HaHa just kidding!  Tricket you!  Fabric here is also from Miss Matatabi a cotton Twill I bought in 2014 and have been hoarding ever since, so sorry but this is long gone as well!

Our latest one is this one.  It was sooo cold, we had to layer up before our photoshoot.  I get a summer feeling from this one though.   I can’t remember where I bought this fabric from, I can’t find it in my purchasing history on Etsy and now I can’t find my remnants.  It’s quilting cotton and I think it’s from cloud 9 fabrics.  It’s from my hoarding stash as well!

I love the details in the pattern and the piping possibilities!  Piping makes everything better so when you have a pattern like this you use piping!

The back features a hidden zipper, which is a piece of cake if you have the right foot for your sewing machine.  There is also an options for long sleeves and you can go crazy with colour blocking or you can drop the front panel and make this an even easier sew.

I made Anita a straight up size 5 and the fit is great on her.  I think I like my first two the best because of the sturdier fabrics.  I think having a bit sturdier fabric emphasis the shape of the dress better.

You have no time to loose, the Ila dress is on sale through Monday Desember 19th for $7.00.  No affiliation just love this pattern and Coffee + thread patterns in general!

Love

I'm a mom to four fantastic kids, three boys and a girl. To teenagers and to toddlers so never a dull moment in our household :) We are from Iceland but have been living in Norway since 2001. I have a newfound passion for sewing. My hubby travels a lot for work and I needed something to do at night when the little ones are a sleep because suddenly my teenage boys would rather hang with their friends or play on their pc's than be with me - why is beyond my imagination :) Thanks to Pinterest I found some amazing sewing bloggers, whom I've been stalking, and realized that I could dig out my sewing machine and start sewing. Now it's all I think about. I've been hoarding pdf patterns and learning from all the amazing tutorials that are out there. I've decided to try out this blogging thing as well to document my sewing journey. We'll see how it goes! Thanks for stopping by, I would love it if you would leave me a comment! XOXO Dagbjört
