And warmest for that matter!
Maybe you remember the classic coat I made a few weeks ago, I really really like it. But I absolutely LOVE my Cocoon Coat from Wardrobe by me!!!!
If you are planning on making a winter coat than you have to check it out! It is surprisingly easy to make, no easing in the sleeves. And oh so comfy to wear and so warm if using the right fabric.
I used this felted wool from Stoff og Stil, it is very nice and warm. I made my coat in size medium increased to large at the hips. The coat is quite roomy so perhaps I didn’t need to add any to the hips, but I knew I would love the coat so I was not about to take any chances. I added about 2 cm to the length of the sleeves to be sure I could tuck my hands in because I’m always cold.
I love how the sleeves create a yoke at the back and the shawl collar. The fun thing about making a neutral color coat is that you can use a more lively lining. I tackled my fear of slippery fabrics and used satin lining for this one.
It was so much easier to work with then the polyester lining crap I used once. I also bought my lining fabric at Stoff og Stil, this is it.
I’m one happy mama in a very cool and toasty new coat!
I hope this winter will be cold and dry so I can use my Cocoon Coat all the time!! By the way it’s on sale for $11.00 until November 16th.
I will be back soon with info on the dress you see peeking out from underneath my coat.
Love

I love the relaxed, flattering shape – really stylish. I recently came back to sewing after many years of not doing any, and I’m enjoying rediscovering how satisfying it is!
