Get your groove on!

For the most part Anita only wants to wear dresses.  Since you usually find her climbing trees or jumping around somewhere, not in an elegant princess style but more like 10 elephants have invaded your house kind off style, knit dresses are to be preferred.  So as soon as the Groove Dress from Madeit Patterns came out I snatched it up!

This is one of those patterns that has it all!  Gazillion options, different sleeve lengths, high low or straight hem, round neck, hood, cowl.  So imagine all the looks you can make.  The best part though might be that if you buy either the kids pattern or the adults pattern you get the teens pattern for free!  Now imagine how many Groove dresses you can make!

I made Anita a size 5 with size 7 length because she has been on and on about that she wants a long dress.  It is a bit big on her but that’s ok cause then she can do her thing without being constrained in any way.

The fabric is double sided sweater knit from stoff og stil I’ve had for a long time, not available anymore.  It is oh so very soft!

I used my serger to hem the sleeves, makes like a faux hem band.  That has become my go to way of hemming knits if there isn’t a band because my double needle stitches always end up unraveling and I’m no good at going back and fixing things.  I have a cover stitch machine on my wish list.  To keep things on the fast and easy side of things I did a rolled hem also on my serger.

It was FREEZING the day we took those photos so we got some looks from people passing by when we took the winter coats of the kids to take photos.  Luckily the kids are used to this by now and it doesn’t take a long time to get the photo shoot done.  Afterwards we warmed up at my work where the kids love to play!

I’m not affiliated in any way with madeit patterns, just LOVE their style.

I'm a mom to four fantastic kids, three boys and a girl. To teenagers and to toddlers so never a dull moment in our household :) We are from Iceland but have been living in Norway since 2001. I have a newfound passion for sewing. My hubby travels a lot for work and I needed something to do at night when the little ones are a sleep because suddenly my teenage boys would rather hang with their friends or play on their pc's than be with me - why is beyond my imagination :) Thanks to Pinterest I found some amazing sewing bloggers, whom I've been stalking, and realized that I could dig out my sewing machine and start sewing. Now it's all I think about. I've been hoarding pdf patterns and learning from all the amazing tutorials that are out there. I've decided to try out this blogging thing as well to document my sewing journey. We'll see how it goes! Thanks for stopping by, I would love it if you would leave me a comment! XOXO Dagbjört
