The Mori Dress and Top

Have you seen the new pattern that was just release by Elegance and Elephants, The Mori Dress and Top?

I was so extremely lucky to be one of the testers for Heidi for her new pattern and man what a great group of testers!  It was so fun seeing all the beautiful dresses and tops popping up in our Facebook group.  Such an inspiration!

I made both a dress and a top.  Lets start with the dress.

I made Anita a size 5 with no moderations, I probably could have sized down the width because she is so skinny.  But lately I’ve found if I do that it gets a little tight around the shoulders and at the armcye.  We are very happy with the fit and she loves how flowy dress is.

This fabric is soooo soft.  It only said cotton in the listing so I don’t know what it is but it’s a lot thinner and softer than quilting cotton.  I’m sure it will be a dream to wear when we finally get summer to this part of the world.  I bought it from Stoff og Stil.

The pattern is great and easy to work with.  As you can see no buttons or zippers to worry about.  No exposed seams in the bodice and I love the burrito way of sewing the armholes together.  I have done this a few times before and I’m always so amazed that it works.  If you have never done this Heidi has a link to a video tutorial to guide you through it. It’s really not hard at all.

Ok, lets check out the top also!

It is so sweet with jeans and I’m sure it will be amazing with bubble pocket shorts, which by the way I need to make for Anita cause she has outgrown hers.

Size 5 again and we love it!  She had no more patience to model for me and the lighting was failing so sorry about the photos.  I have been hoarding this Japanese cotton voile from Miss Matatabi for over a year now, so I don’t know if she still has it and I’m afraid to go look cause I’ll end up buying something if I do.  So you enter at your own risk if you want to check it out.

One more of my beautiful brown eyed girl!

I love Heidi’s design and I’ve been a fan since I first started sewing.  The ruffle top was amongst the first things I sewed, so sweet.  The Ponderosa Dress, blogged here is still in heavy rotation.  I have made two or three bubble pocket shorts.  Actually if you check out my first ever blog post you can see that five of the items there are E&E patterns.  Thank you so much again Heidi!!

Oh I almost forgot to tell you that The Mori Dress and Top pattern is on sale until Wednesday 7 am PST using code moriday – so hurry up!!

Love

I'm a mom to four fantastic kids, three boys and a girl. To teenagers and to toddlers so never a dull moment in our household :) We are from Iceland but have been living in Norway since 2001. I have a newfound passion for sewing. My hubby travels a lot for work and I needed something to do at night when the little ones are a sleep because suddenly my teenage boys would rather hang with their friends or play on their pc's than be with me - why is beyond my imagination :) Thanks to Pinterest I found some amazing sewing bloggers, whom I've been stalking, and realized that I could dig out my sewing machine and start sewing. Now it's all I think about. I've been hoarding pdf patterns and learning from all the amazing tutorials that are out there. I've decided to try out this blogging thing as well to document my sewing journey. We'll see how it goes! Thanks for stopping by, I would love it if you would leave me a comment! XOXO Dagbjört
